Connecting Personally with Local Neighbors

I believe public service requires honesty, transparency, and accountability. With that in mind, I want to directly address a challenging chapter in my career. While serving as an EMS supervisor, our leadership team faced scrutiny over the oversight of emergency medications. To be completely clear: all medications were ultimately accounted for, and there was absolutely no theft, diversion, misuse, or patient harm. However, the city determined that our supervisory oversight had fallen short. As a leader, I accepted responsibility for that systemic failure and chose to resign. This humbling experience reinforced a core lesson that guides me today: true leadership requires accountability. When mistakes happen, leaders must own them, learn from them, and ensure they are not repeated. Over a more than two-decade career in emergency medical services, I have responded to thousands of emergencies and successfully managed critical incidents. The overwhelming support I received from colleagues and community members during this difficult transition reminded me that character is not defined by a single mistake. It is defined by how we respond, grow, and continue to serve others.
